WATERBURY, Conn., January 3, 2014 – Waterbury-based Sundae Spa, A Deliciously Interactive Adventure, has selected GEM Advertising as its agency of record. GEM’s collaboration with
Sundae Spa will include brand messaging, advertising, public relations, social media and broadcast production. The spa, exclusively for children, is “A place where kids can come to make sweet treats, while learning, looking good and having fun!” Just three years after its first store opened in 2010, Sundae Spa has grown to launching its second store this month at the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall in Milford; in addition, the company has received over 100 submissions internationally for franchise opportunities.
”The talent behind GEM Advertising is one of the best treasures that I have uncovered,” said owner Kim Swan. “The entire team has worked with me to understand, share and expand on my vision of Sundae Spa. I feel comfortable leaving my branding and name in their hands to bring it to even greater heights.”
With seven of her own daughters and a background in teaching high school science, Swan knows more than a thing or two about the magical world of children and what keeps them learning AND entertained.
“Kim is an extraordinary entrepreneur who has the incredible ability to imagine concepts through the eyes of a child and implement those concepts with perfect execution” said Chris Bartlett, CEO of GEMAdvertising. “The partnership between Sundae Spa and GEMAdvertising is an unstoppable combination of passion, excitement and vision,” he continued, “particularly in regard to what’s possible with international franchising in the growing trend for educational activities for children.”
With a lofty goal of being in every state in the U.S. and beyond, Swan is already branching out into organic product development, environmentally-friendly spa practices, and giving back to the community. At every grand opening, Sundae Spa partners with The Sunshine Kids, the non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer, in order to get them out on a field trip for a day of free spa services.
“Here at the Sunshine Kids, we are consistently amazed at the outpouring of generosity from people like Kim Swan and businesses like Sundae Spa,” said Brooks Tomb, Director, Regional Offices for The Sunshine Kids Foundation. “For folks to take their time, energy, and good will and share it with Kids with cancer, so they can have a day where they can forget their troubles and just enjoy life, is a phenomenal thing,” he continued, “like the author of Peter Pan, J. Barrie, said, those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. On behalf of all the Kids Kim Swan will bring joy to, we simply say: thank you!”
Partnering with charity organizations is just one way that Swan-and her Sundae Spa brand-stands for the betterment of children’s lives. Swan has an educational background in working with special needs children, she has fifteen years of experience as an educational consultant, and she is the mother of seven daughters.
“My favorite saying to the girls is, No matter what, you get to pick the person you want to be,” says Swan, “and they know I am referring not to whatyou want to be, but what kind of personyou want to be. Being a good person attracts good people and makes for a better life and ultimately a better feeling about yourself.”
Feeling good is what Sundae Spa is all about, right down the ice-cream sundae for every visitor. The whipped cream and cherry is, of course, optional.

About Sundae Spa:The Inspiration for Sundae Spa came from a family vacation. For something different, I booked a spa experience for the kids that promised fun and sweet treats for your hands and feet. (I love doing things with my children and getting them involved). On our 3 hour drive we imagined all kinds of wonderful things we would do together at the spa. Sadly the experience was less than yummy but it did leave us with a taste to use our own creative ideas and start Sundae Spa.
And Then… Immediately upon returning I threw myself into research – similar products, other spas for children, complimentary businesses that offered experiential learning – no one was doing what we had envisioned though all the businesses were thriving. Sundae Spa brings the best of them together in “a place where kids can come to make sweet treats while learning, looking good and having fun.” With years of experience as a science teacher and having worked with all kinds of children I was sure our ideas would be a hit.
Sundae Spa currently sells online at www.sundaespa.com. For more information, visit the website or call 877-737-3593.
