Alphabet Soup: D is for Determination

Going about your purpose. Making your mind up that you are going to do something specific. Focusing on the desired outcome or result. All of these define determination.

When I think of determination, I am reminded of the slogan used on the TV show “Survivor” “Out Wit, Out Last, Out Play.” That always sounded so harsh and cruel to me when the show first arrived in the summer of 2000. In thinking about it again in more recent years…..it really is true!

“Out Wit,” really means that your information and knowledge(content) may just be better than your competitors. Really, it might just be true! Perhaps too, you just play your cards with greater intelligence(technique). Ok, also possible.

“Out Last,” seems so obvious these days, considering the impact the economy has had over the past couple of years. If your business has survived until now, you have out lasted the many unfortunate players in the game. This determination is pure numbers here; you need to beat the odds! And they are stacked against you!

“Out Play,” requires us to use all of our raw ingredients together to create some winning combination. Will your business find new markets? Do you think social media may come into play here? Time for new products? New services? Or is it time to get lean and mean so you can be nimble and cross that finish line as a winner?

For it is with determination, that you realize the journey is the destination!

The good news here is that you are not playing Survivor. And there can be more than one sole survivor!
